Im Himmelreich ein Haus steht,
da hin ein goldener Weg geht.
Die Säulen die sind von Marmelstein,
da legte unser Herr hinein
die edelsten Gesteine.
In dieses Haus geht niemand ein,
der nicht von allen Sünden reine.

In Heav'n above a house stands,
to which a golden path wends.
The pillars are of marble made,
and there inside Our Lord has laid
most precious stones within.
Into this house none enters in
who is not cleansèd from all sin.

Up there, up there by the heavenly gates,
there stands a poor soul, sadly gazing, who waits.
My poor soul, my poor soul, oh come in to me,
and your clothes will all be as clean as can be.
So white and so clean, and as white as the snow,
And then into Heaven together we’ll go.
Into Heaven, to Heaven, to heavenly bliss
Where God the father, the son and the Holy Ghost is.
